Domeij Gallery is pleased to present Per-Ivar Lindekrantz's second separate exhibition at the gallery. With a whole new suite of paintings, he once again invites us to a journey in time and space where mythological figures from bygone cultures and eras are integrated into timeless landscapes and contemporary interiors.
Lindekrantz's paintings are enigmatic, moved out of their museum existence and inserted into the paintings carefully painted landscape creates a tranquil drama and new stories.
But what are they doing there? What era is it? You ask yourself..
The exhibition shows paintings done during the past year. The work on the exhibition coincided with his stay in Tenerife during a working period. Spain's volcanic island and its barren landscape inspired him to, among other things, the painting Vulture - Gamen. A vulture sits outside a Spanish small house where the lava river is flowing and destroys all living ... thoughts goes back to Bible illustrator Gustave Doré, (1832-1883) copper plate graphics, with its saturated hue and magic light.
Mystery and mysticism linger long on the retina after considering Lindekrantz's paintings.
