In/Visible Power explores invisible power structures, where the glass represents hard to perceive, and often rigid, borders, but also the fragile and unspoken silence that keeps the obstacles in place in many constellations. At the same time, the works cross the border between art and design.
Isa Andersson has previously through her work investigated and questioned the current aesthetic norm within art and design education. In her bachelor degree project Finest Selection she highlighted alternative creative working methods such as nail art, henna painting and dental art. The piece VIP materialized in conjunction with this as a contrast – a symbol for the cold minimalistic boundaries of power she experienced. Based on that piece, and a conversation around the feminist expression "glass ceiling”, she started exploring invisible boundaries and borders using glass.
